Les Cascades de Rochas

A few weeks ago I registered in the trnd website which is basically a community thanks to which you can try out new products and give your opinion about them. I was lucky enough to be selected to try out the new perfume from Rochas called Les Cascades de Rochas.

Let me start by saying how much I love receiving things on the mail. As much as I love shopping, way more than it’s good for my bank account, there is something really fun about getting a package and unveiling what is inside. The box from Rochas didn’t dissappoint. They included a full size bottle of the perfume, 20 samples and some papers in the shape of the bottle to let other people smell it. The packaging is pretty, they were going for Parisian chic, so I guess they succeeded because I definetely feel more glamorous holding the bottle.

I have now tried the perfume and I have to say it is quite nice. It is a bit stronger than the ones I usually use but, then again, mine are super subtle so this one might be a good option to spice things up. What I really love about it, though, is that it lasts the whole day which most of my perfumes don’t do. I’m not a perfume expert so this is as far as my opinion goes but if you are looking to try out something new this might be a good option.

New stuff

My April Joliebox arrived today with these contents:

I love the Ego nail polish which has a lovely bronze color. I love the fact that they included nail polish in this box and I’m amazed that they sent me a color that I don’t already own. I had never heard of this brand but I tried it and it seems to be alright. Then there is a small mascara from Yves Rocher that it’s supposed to be good and I will try at some point. The pedicure set seems like a good option now that summer is approaching and we will soon be wearing sandals (if it ever stops raining).  The to things on the top are a body oil and sunscreen for kids. The oil, I don’t like but I can understand, although it smells really nice so I might give it a chance. The sunscreen is a joke. I’m not a kid nor do I have kids, so what am I supposed to do with that? I don’t know but these whole surprise box concept is not as satisfying and fun as I thought it would be so I’m considering unsubscribing.

However, this was not the only thing awaiting me in the mail, I also received my Amazon order which includes these:

There are three nail polishes from Essie, a glittery one from China Glaze and, the best part, the Orly bonder. I was super excited to finally have some Essie polishes so I tried one of them right away and the color looks great and it applies really well. Of course, first I put a coat of the bonder and now I just have to wait and see if it really prevents chipping.

As if all of this wasn’t enough to add to my crazy nail polish collection I bought some extra. I had to go to the dentist but I was early so I thought I would look around H&M for a while. This was the result:

I didn’t have enough time (or money) to look at the clothes so I went straight to the accessories section. I ended up buying a sparkly nail polish and a lip gloss that smells like cotton candy. The dentist didn’t feel so bad after that.

Dry Shampoo and others

I’m having mixed feelings today, on the one hand, my team just lost and I just checked the balance on my bank account and it was depressing. On the other hand, they had nail polishes on sale at Kiko – they can’t keep doing this to me, my nail polish collection is insane!- and I managed to make a decent lasagna. Now I don’t really care about soccer so the loss is not such a big deal plus my neighbor will finally stop singing “hala madrid” in the morning because of it, which means I will finally be able to sleep. I have no solution for my bank account, though, specially if they keep having nail polish on sale.

I don’t really know why I told you all of that because what I really wanted to talk about was dry shampoo but, well, I felt like sharing. Anyway, on to the shampoo, it is great, or as great as temporary solutions go. Believe it or not I am more obsessed with my hair than I am with my nails and I need to keep it clean and styled at all times. However, I have very oily hair so it is difficult. I wash it every day because, even though I know it’s not good, I wouldn’t be able to look at myself in the mirror otherwise. But, at the end of the day the roots and the bangs don’t look good so, up until now, if I was planning to go out at night I had to rewash it. Well, not anymore (this is starting to sound like a bad commercial, but trust me, it works). I have started using Sephora’s dry shampoo simply because it was just 5 €. It leaves the hair a bit matt but otherwise clean. I’m planning on trying a different brand when this bottle finishes, just to see if I can get better results with something else, but I’m quite satisfied with it and the price is ok. So if you want to give it a try Sephora is a good option.

Nail Polish… again

Today I went shopping and, big surprise, I bought nail polish plus other beauty products that you can see here:

And so, depite the terrible state of my nails I couldn’t help myself and did a full manicure. After all, not only did I have to try my new polish but also the new plaques. I’m very pleased with the results because it is so colorful, which is nice given that we are not getting the best weather lately and all my cheerful spring clothes are still in the closet. Plus I watched Friends while doing my manicure and that always gets me in a good mood. Anyway, judge for yourselves!

Monster Bundle plaques

Today when I arrived home this is what was waiting for me in the post (bad picture, I know, but it was the best I could do):

They are my new Monster Bundle plaques and there are 25 of them! I couldn’t be more excited. I just love the whole stamping system but I was getting bored of my Konad plaques, no surprise since I only have two. These ones were so cheap also, I have heard they are not great but I don’t care. However, I will have to wait a little until I can try them since my nails are in a pitiful state and I’m giving them a break. But I will let you know how it went when I do try them.

Essie finally landed in Spain. Every time I read something about nails this brand always seems to come up so I’m dying to try it, especially because I heard that it lasts way longer than other nail polishes. Can’t wait! As usual the price is more expensive than in US, 11,99 € which, comparing the economic situation of both countries makes no sense at all, but I digress. The point is that is has been launched and that’s a start.

I was, however, looking for a yellow nail polish and, apparently, it must not be the color of the season because they don’t have it so I kept on browsing and found their spring collection. I can officially say I’m in love!

On another note, they opened a Kiko store next to where I work so know I have to walk really fast every time I walk by on the way to my car because otherwise I will end up spending all my salary there. Life is tough…

Nail Polish Fixer

The other day I was painting my nails as usual and disaster struck. My nail polish fixer from Kiko had finished. At first I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal ( I can be really naive) but after doing my nails and waiting for 20 minutes to have them fully dry I realized how addicted I have become to this product.

For those of you who love painting your nails but have no patience, like me, this is the best product you will ever discover. Basically, you apply your nail polish as usual, then wait one minute and spray the nail fixer. In a couple of minutes your nails will be completely dry. And it smells great!

I am incredibly talented when it comes to messing up my nails but this totally solved the problem.
